Horse Portraits – Pencil Drawings
My standard size portrait is drawn on 16” x 20″ archival bristol board which is thicker than cardboard with a white paper vellum overlay. This is superior in performance and lasting quality of your drawing than paper. The actual size of your horse or pet will depend on how your photo graphs out on the board. I leave at least an inch or two boarder around the portrait for a mat and frame. Portraits of this size make a statement.
My smaller size is done on a 12″ x 16″ archival bristol board. Details are not quite as defined in this size but still very stunning.
Each portrait is totally drawn by hand. There is no “tracing”. I graph out your black and white photo and determine the size of the graph on the board. I draw what is contained in each square and continue to draw square by square. This captures the proportions and helps me get the detail as close as possible. Please be patient. Once you have placed your order, and I have received your deposit, depending on what work I already have lined up will determine your wait time. I will respond with an approximate time period.
Dog and Cat Portraits – Oil on Canvas
There is not a standard size for my dog and cat portraits. It will be determined by your photo layout. Sizes are either 11″ x 14″, 12″ x 12″ or 9″ x 12″. There is one standard price. It takes approximately 2 weeks to complete your oil portrait and sometimes a bit longer if more drying time is needed. Each portrait is hand painted from your photograph. Backgrounds are deleted and usually I decide on the color unless you have something specific in mind. Once you have placed your order, and I have received your deposit, depending on what work I already have lined up will determine your wait time. I will respond with an approximate time period.
